PDX (PREMIUM DIGITAL EXPERIENCE)

Stone Theatres Exclusive Large Format Concept: PDX

More than likely, you have heard of brand names like IMAX, Real D, RPX or various other names used to describe the large format experience. These are all branded names given to the concept of LARGE FORMAT SCREENS, ENHANCED SOUND, PREMIUM AUDITORIAand DOUBLE & TRIPLE LIGHT THROWS ONTO THE SCREEN. When you see a movie in any of these types of auditoria, in regular 2D or 3D, you will experience a presentation that will blow you away in comparison to seeing a film in traditional 2D.

What is PDX?

PDX - Premium Digital Experience - is the STONE THEATRES brand of large-format premium auditoria. We collaborated with leading presentation technology providers to build the premium experience under our brand name: PDX.

How do I find PDX showtimes?

PDX, 3D PDX, & Dolby Atmos are all listed in our showtime schedule with a PDX designation near the movie title. Our website www.stonetheatres.com and other resources like Fandango or MovieTickets.com all have indicators for PDX titles.

How much does it cost?

Each theatre location is different, but a small ticket upcharge is typically added for PDX. The upcharge can range from $2-$5 depending upon location and whether it is a PDX 2D or PDX 3D presentation.

Best picture, best sound. Best overall presentation available in the industry today.

PDX with DOLBY ATMOS & 4K Laser

LOCATIONS

The Pointe 14- Wilmington, NC

RedStone 14- Indian Land, SC

SCREEN

Wall-to-wall 65ft. wide, curved screen. The largest in the building.

PROJECTION

Barco 4K Laser Projector that produces up to 44,000 lumens compared to 25,000 lumens from a regular digital projector. It delivers unsurpassed color saturation, brightness uniformity, sharpness and contrast in both 2D and 3D presentations. Simply put, it produces the finest on-screen image available in the industry today.

SOUND

Dolby Atmos Immersive Sound. The most immediate noticeable difference is the use of overhead speakers. Typical theatre sound is either 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound, where groups of speakers are wired together in channels. In an Atmos theatre, up to 64 channels (speakers) are powered by their own individual audio feed. Each speaker in the auditorium has its own individual discrete channel of audio. It is referred to as object-based, which can move the object sound anywhere in the auditorium at the precise location and time that the producer wishes it to be.

Now, instead of watching the movie with the sound coming toward you, it actually feels as if you are immersed in the middle of the movie itself.

SOUND

The PDX auditorium has 7.1 sound with 3 screen channels, 2 side surround channels, 2 back surround channels, and a sub-woofer channel. Speakers surround the auditorium on all walls (side, front and rear).

It has 4-way speakers for each channel (compared to 3-way for other sound systems): "very high frequency", "high frequency", "mid frequency", and "dual low frequency". The separate channels provide better clarity and a broader range of sound.
