The CDC now recommends that most individuals receive a single dose of an updated vaccine authorized by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), regardless of the individual’s previous vaccination status.
According to guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), patients age 5 or older do not have to match the updated COVID vaccine dose they receive to the brand they received during their primary series or any previous dose(s).
